One person answers this. Expect a reply within two business days. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the line and stations you were riding — it makes bugs findable.
Getting started
- Pick your line, then your boarding station and destination.
- Check the platform card — it shows the direction, the terminus, and the first stop you should hit after boarding. If the platform sign disagrees, cross over.
- Tap Start. The Dynamic Island shows the countdown; your Apple Watch taps your wrist one stop early and again on arrival.
Common questions
Do I need a data connection underground?
No. Live arrival times need a connection, but the stop countdown does not. Aurora tracks position with GPS, geofences, and an accelerometer-based stop detector, so it keeps counting through tunnels.
The wrist tap didn't fire.
Check three things: the Watch app is installed and open on the paired watch, Aurora has Notifications permission on iPhone, and Location is set to Always (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Aurora). Silent Mode does not suppress the haptic, but Theater Mode and a Focus that blocks Aurora will.
The countdown isn't advancing.
Aurora advances a stop when you come within about 450 m of the next station, and only forward along the line. If you boarded the wrong direction, stop and restart the trip with the correct destination. Deep stations occasionally hold a stop until the next one resolves.
Live arrival times are missing or stale.
Arrivals come straight from the MTA and Port Authority public feeds. When those feeds are down or a route is not reporting, Aurora shows nothing rather than guessing. Trip tracking is unaffected.
Is my location sent anywhere?
No. There is no server. See the privacy policy.
What is free and what is Pro?
The free plan includes three tracked trips per week, and demo mode is always free. Aurora Pro removes the trip limit. It is available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time lifetime unlock. Subscriptions renew through your Apple Account and can be cancelled any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
I paid and Pro isn't showing.
Open Aurora Pro and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase. If it still fails, email the address above with the date of purchase.

A station or route is wrong.
Station data comes from the official MTA Subway Stations dataset and refreshes weekly. If something is genuinely wrong, email the station name and line and it will be corrected.
