Privacy Policy
The short version: Aurora has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. Your location is used on your device to count subway stops and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not have a server.
Information Aurora uses
Location
With your permission, Aurora reads your device's location (precise and/or approximate) while you are tracking a trip. It is used for one purpose: to work out which station you are near, count down the stops remaining, and alert you when it is time to get off.
Location is processed entirely on your iPhone and Apple Watch. It is not uploaded, not stored on any server, not shared with any third party, not sold, and not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking across apps or websites. Aurora does not operate a backend, so there is nowhere for it to go.
If you grant "Always" access, Aurora uses background location and geofence region monitoring so the countdown and the get-off alert keep working when your phone is locked or in your pocket underground. You can revoke or downgrade this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Aurora.
Motion & fitness (accelerometer)
Aurora reads accelerometer data through Apple's CoreMotion framework to detect train stops in tunnels where GPS is unavailable. This data is processed live on device, is not recorded, and is never transmitted.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Aurora schedules them locally on your device. There is no push server and no push token is sent anywhere.
Network requests Aurora makes
Aurora makes exactly two kinds of outbound request, both to public transit data feeds, both plain GETs that contain no personal data, no identifier, and no location:

These operators will see the ordinary network metadata that any HTTP request carries, such as your IP address. Their own privacy practices apply to that; Aurora sends them nothing about you.
Purchases
Aurora Pro subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase using StoreKit 2. Apple processes the payment. Aurora never sees or stores your name, email, payment card, or Apple Account details. Entitlement is verified on device against Apple's signed transaction record.
Third parties
None. Aurora contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, no attribution SDK, and no social login. The app links only against Apple's own frameworks.
Data retention and deletion
Everything Aurora stores — your recent stations and trip settings — lives in your app's local storage on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no account to delete because there is no account.
Children
Aurora is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
